Assured Hesperis

#833ab7
Notes

Assured Hesperis (#833AB7) is a true indigo with an earthy character. It leans grounded and natural, the kind of color that plays well with wood, clay, linen, and warm neutrals. Its HSL profile (275°, 52%, 47%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary lime. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Etymology

Assured
adjective

Old French aseürer, to give assurance — past-participle of assure. As a color modifier, assured implies a saturated-and-confident quality where the hue carries unwavering certainty about its own visual identity. Sits at the bold-and-confident end of the grid, parallel to certain and poised.

Hesperis
noun

Eurasian Dame's rocket (Hesperis matronalis) — an evening-fragrant Brassicaceae perennial whose deep-violet four-petaled flowers naturalized across European hedgerows since the Roman era. Hesperis color refers to a fully bloomed Hesperis matronalis terminal raceme: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the velvet finish of fresh four-petaled flowers. The genus name comes from the Greek hespéra (evening), after the dusk-fragrance peak.
