Violet

#7f00ff
Notes

Violet (#7F00FF) is a true indigo with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Its HSL profile (270°, 100%, 50%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary lime. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel. The saturated blue-leaning purple at the far end of the visible spectrum — what designers (and Figma's default palette) reach for when they say 'violet'. Sits between blue and ultraviolet on the rainbow, the shortest wavelength the human eye can see. CSS's canonical `violet` keyword (#ee82ee) drifted into pastel magenta territory and doesn't match either the spectral color or the flower it was named for.
