Greek ékleipsis, abandonment — past-participle of eclipse. As a color modifier, eclipsed implies the deep occulting darkness of a celestial-body-blocked light-source, where umbral-and-penumbral shadows fall on the hue. Spanish for bleeding — the wine punch named for its color, not the other way around. The color is the deep red of Tempranillo or Garnacha aerated with citrus and fruit: a warm, slightly translucent red-violet that catches light through a glass jug.
