Refulgent Kachi (#7395F6) is a soft azure with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Etymology
Latin refulgēns, shining-back — present-participle of refulgere, sharing root with fulgor (lightning). As a color modifier, refulgent implies a saturated-and-reflective-shining quality, the bright color of polished-bronze-and-armor reflective-surface mid-day-sun reflection. Sits at the bright-and-saturated end of the grid, parallel to effulgent and resplendent in usage.
Japanese kachi-iro (褐色 or 勝色) — victory color, the deep blue-black favored by samurai for ceremonial dress because kachi phonetically equals victory. The deepest indigo dye, often applied through six or seven dye baths. The color refers to a kachi-dyed samurai jinbaori: a saturated, slightly cool very deep blue-black with the matte finish of multi-bath indigo silk.
