Bulky Charoite
Bulky Charoite (#716DFC) is a soft blue with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (242°, 96%, 71%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old Norse búlki, cargo / mass — adjectival suffix -y. As a color modifier, bulky implies a saturated-and-massive-and-occupying quality where the hue takes up visual space with broad-and-heavy presence. Sits at the bold-and-weighty end of the grid, parallel to hefty and substantial in usage.
Russian violet-banded mineral mined exclusively along the Chara River in Yakutia, eastern Siberia, since the 1940s. Charoite color refers to a polished Yakutian charoite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the silky chatoyant finish of fibrous strontium-potassium-calcium silicate. The only deep-violet mineral mined commercially in Russia, valued for its complex banded patterning.
