Lush Rubellite
Lush Rubellite (#6A0C04) is a deep red with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (5°, 93%, 22%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Middle English lush, possibly from lascious, lascivious — a word that drifted from sensual ripeness toward visual abundance. Used as a color word since the eighteenth century for the saturated greens of well-watered foliage and the deep saturated jewel tones of velvet upholstery. Used across the deep and bold buckets where the hue is simultaneously dark and vivid.
A red variety of tourmaline — colored by manganese impurities and mined principally in Brazil, Mozambique, and Madagascar. The color refers to a faceted rubellite: a saturated, slightly cool red-pink with the gem's signature internal warmth. Cooler than ruby, brighter than rhodolite.
