Old English murnan, to grieve — present-participle of mourn, sharing root with Old Norse morna. Pezzottaite color refers to a faceted Sakavalana pezzottaite gemstone: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the glassy finish of manganese-substituted cyclosilicate. Named for Federico Pezzotta, the Italian mineralogist who first described it.
