Etched Hessian
Etched Hessian (#4F6105) is a deep yellow with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (72°, 90%, 20%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

German ätzen, to etch — past-participle of etch. As a color modifier, etched implies a clear-and-precisely-incised quality, the crisp color of Rembrandt-and-Dürer hand-pulled etching-print fine-line incised-image. Sits at the crisp-and-incised end of the grid, parallel to engraved and inscribed in usage.
A coarse jute fabric — used for sacking, packaging, and rough textile applications. Originally manufactured in Hesse (Germany), where the Hessian troops of the American Revolution wore yellow uniforms. Hessian refers to undyed natural hessian fabric: a soft, slightly muted warm tan with the textured matte finish of bast-fiber weave. Slightly warmer than burlap.
