Neon Cycladic
Neon Cycladic (#4DEBFE) is a true cyan with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (186°, 99%, 65%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek néon, new — element-name (atomic-number 10), discovered by William Ramsay in 1898. As a color modifier, neon implies a saturated-and-electric-glow quality, the bright color of Las-Vegas-and-Times-Square neon-marquee gas-discharge-tube emission. Sits at the bright-and-electric end of the grid, parallel to electric and fluorescent in usage.
Of the Cyclades, the Greek archipelago — and the saturated blue of Cycladic-island cupolas, painted blue-and-white church domes, and the deep Mediterranean water of Mykonos, Santorini, Naxos. Cycladic color refers to a Cycladic church dome against the sea: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of limewash-and-cobalt paint.
