Spick Microgreen
Spick Microgreen (#4C6F04) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (80°, 93%, 23%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old Norse spik-spakr, spike-new — sharing root with spic-and-span. As a color modifier, spick implies a clear-and-newly-cleaned quality where the hue carries the just-polished visual register of fresh-painted-and-fresh-cleaned surfaces. Sits at the crisp-and-clean end of the grid, parallel to spotless and pristine in usage.
The very young (7–14 days post-germination) edible seedlings of vegetables and herbs — popularized in fine-dining restaurants as bright color-and-texture garnish. The color refers to a tray of fresh basil microgreens: a saturated, slightly cool fresh yellow-green with the optical brightness of just-emerged cotyledons.
