Neon Chrysoprase
Neon Chrysoprase (#4BF4E3) is a true teal with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (174°, 88%, 63%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek néon, new — element-name (atomic-number 10), discovered by William Ramsay in 1898. As a color modifier, neon implies a saturated-and-electric-glow quality, the bright color of Las-Vegas-and-Times-Square neon-marquee gas-discharge-tube emission. Sits at the bright-and-electric end of the grid, parallel to electric and fluorescent in usage.
An apple-green variety of chalcedony — colored by trace nickel, mined principally in Australia, Poland, and Madagascar. The color refers to a polished Australian chrysoprase: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-green-blue with the matte translucency of cryptocrystalline silica. Cooler than apple.
