Composed Outremer (#4A8DF3) is a true azure with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (216°, 88%, 62%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
The past participle of compose, to arrange together — used as a color modifier for hues that read as deliberate and balanced. The French word for ultramarine — literally beyond-the-sea, naming the lapis-lazuli pigment imported from Afghanistan via Mediterranean trade routes. The color refers to a freshly mixed outremer pigment in oil: a saturated, slightly violet-shifted deep blue.
