Fluorescent Echium (#40C9FC) is a true cyan with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Latin fluēre, to flow — adjectival suffix -escent. E. vulgare (viper's bugloss) covers European chalk grasslands; E. wildpretii of Tenerife produces three-meter spires. The color refers to fresh E. vulgare in flower: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet.
