Direct Yanagi
Direct Yanagi (#406008) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (82°, 85%, 20%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
From the Latin directus, straight — used as a color modifier since the eighteenth century for hues that read as straightforward and unambiguous. Direct red, direct green: moderate-to-high saturation combined with optical clarity. Sits at the crisp-bucket center alongside clear and frank.
Salix — the willow in Japanese, and the soft yellow-green of fresh willow leaves in spring. Yanagi-iro is a traditional Japanese fashion color, distinct from moegi by its slightly cooler shift. The color refers to a fresh willow leaf along a Kyoto canal: a soft, slightly cool yellow-green with the satin finish of new lanceolate foliage.
