Eclipsed Kyomurasaki (#401463) is a deep indigo with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (273°, 66%, 23%) places it in the balanced band at a dark lightness. Etymology
Greek ékleipsis, abandonment — past-participle of eclipse. As a color modifier, eclipsed implies the deep occulting darkness of a celestial-body-blocked light-source, where umbral-and-penumbral shadows fall on the hue. Sits at the deep-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to occluded with astronomical connotation.
Kyoto purple (京紫) — the warmer red-tinted purple of the Heian-period imperial court at Kyoto, distinguished from the cooler Edo-period edomurasaki. Kyomurasaki color refers to a Kyoto-court ceremonial kariginu hunting robe: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the silk luster of multi-bath gromwell-root-and-akane (madder) dye on woven silk crepe. Slightly warmer than Edomurasaki.
