Spangled Andaman

#3dc065
Notes

Spangled Andaman (#3DC065) is a true green with an earthy character. It leans grounded and natural, the kind of color that plays well with wood, clay, linen, and warm neutrals. Its HSL profile (138°, 52%, 50%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary magenta. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Etymology

Spangled
adjective

Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Sits at the bright-and-reflective end of the grid, parallel to glittering and sequined in usage.

Andaman
noun

The Indian Ocean sea between the Malay Peninsula and the Andaman Islands — and the saturated blue-green of Andaman water at the Surin and Similan island groups. Andaman color refers to mid-depth Andaman Sea water: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical clarity of tropical Asian water.
