Torrid Tiānlán
Torrid Tiānlán (#37C7FD) is a true cyan with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (196°, 98%, 60%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin torridus, parched / scorching — sharing root with torrēre (to dry by heat). As a color modifier, torrid implies a saturated-and-tropical-hot quality, the bright color of equatorial-Saharan-and-Sonoran-desert mid-summer high-temperature surface-emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to scorching and fiery in usage.
Chinese for sky-blue — combining tiān (sky) and lán (blue). Used for the pale blue of clear-sky painting in Chinese landscape tradition and the tiānlán-cí (sky-blue glaze) of Song-dynasty porcelain. The color refers to a Song tiānlán glaze: a soft, slightly cool pale blue with the high gloss of fired ceramic glaze.
