Lionhearted Yomogi
Lionhearted Yomogi (#376D02) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (90°, 96%, 22%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old English lēona-heorte, lion's-heart — referring to Richard I Lionheart (1157–1199). As a color modifier, lionhearted implies a saturated-and-courageous-and-royal quality, the deep-rich color of Crusader-period English Plantagenet-royalty armorial bearings. Sits at the bold-and-chivalrous end of the grid, parallel to valiant and heroic.
Artemisia indica, Japanese mugwort — used in yomogi-mochi (mugwort rice cakes) and as a traditional moxibustion herb. Yomogi-iro refers to the slightly muted yellow-green of fresh mugwort leaves: a soft, slightly muted yellow-green with the matte finish of pubescent leaf surface. Drier than wakaba.
