Etymology
From the Greek elektron, amber — the substance whose static-electric properties were observed by Thales of Miletus. The Arabic word for green — used for the deep green of the Khidr (the Green One) in Islamic mysticism, the green domes of mosques, and the Jabal al-Akhdar (Green Mountain) of Oman.
