Ignited Crete
Ignited Crete (#2ACEFF) is a true cyan with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (194°, 100%, 58%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary red. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Latin ignīre, to set on fire — past-participle of ignite. As a color modifier, ignited implies a saturated-and-just-started-burning quality, the bright color of match-strike-and-flint-spark initial-combustion emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to kindled and aflame in usage.
The largest Greek island — and the saturated deep blue of Cretan beach water at Elafonissi and Balos Lagoon. Crete color refers to the lagoon at Balos: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical clarity of warm Aegean water filtered through pink-coral sand.
