An adjectival form of state, condition of dignity. The Sanskrit word for emerald — used in Vedic and Mughal jewelry vocabulary for the saturated deep green of fine emeralds. Marakat gave the Greek smaragdus and ultimately English emerald. The color refers to a faceted Mughal-period Colombian emerald: a saturated, slightly cool deep green with the gem's signature internal life.
