Gaudy Lobelia (#1DBEF2) is a true cyan with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Middle English gaude, trick / showy ornament — adjectival suffix -y. The genus Lobelia — particularly L. erinus, the common cottage-garden annual with cascading deep-blue flowers. The color refers to a fresh L. erinus in midsummer: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the satin finish of small bilateral flowers. Cooler than borage.
