Aligned Catmint

#1ca59c
Notes

Aligned Catmint (#1CA59C) is a true cyan with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (176°, 71%, 38%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary red. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Etymology

Aligned
adjective

French à-ligne, to-line-up — past-participle of align. As a color modifier, aligned implies a clear-and-axis-coordinated quality where the hue carries the visual register of carefully-parallel-arranged elements. Sits at the crisp-and-balanced end of the grid, parallel to symmetrical and squared in usage.

Catmint
noun

The genus Nepeta — particularly N. mussinii (catmint), the cottage-garden perennial with silver-green foliage and lavender-blue flower spikes. The color refers to a fresh catmint clump in May: a soft, slightly cool gray-green with the matte finish of small mint-family leaves. Cooler than santolina.
