Awakening Amazonite
Awakening Amazonite (#17C7F7) is a true cyan with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (193°, 93%, 53%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English āwacnian, to awaken — present-participle of awaken. As a color modifier, awakening implies a saturated-and-rousing-and-fresh quality, the bright color of spring-dawn and first-light atmospheric-stimulation. A blue-green variety of microcline feldspar — colored by trace lead and water in its crystal structure. Mined since ancient times in the Russian Urals and now in Colorado, Madagascar, and Brazil. The color refers to a polished amazonite cabochon: a soft, slightly muted blue-green with the cloudy translucency of feldspar. Cooler than jade, warmer than cerulean, with the mineral-trade specificity of a stone named for the Amazon basin where it doesn't actually occur.
