Occluded Boleite
Occluded Boleite (#103F8C) is a deep azure with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (217°, 79%, 31%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin occludere, to close up — past-participle of occlude. As a color modifier, occluded implies a hue blocked-and-dimmed by an intervening physical barrier. Sits at the deep-and-obscured end of the grid, parallel to eclipsed and cloaked but more clinical in register.
A rare lead-copper-silver chloride mineral — mined principally at the Boleo deposits of Baja California (the source of its name). Highly fragile and rarely cut as a gem. The color refers to a fresh boleite specimen: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the metallic-gray-glossy finish of crystallized chloride mineral.
