Earnest Ruri
Earnest Ruri (#0D5399) is a deep azure with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Old English eornost, seriousness, zeal. Used as a color modifier since the nineteenth century for hues that read as committed but unshowy — the working blues of denim, the deep greens of Quaker meetinghouses. Ruri-iro (瑠璃色) names a saturated dark blue distinct from ai-iro. The color refers to a polished Japanese-cut lapis cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of fine lapis.
