Electric Andaman
Electric Andaman (#04AD88) is a true teal with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (167°, 95%, 35%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
From the Greek elektron, amber — the substance whose static-electric properties were observed by Thales of Miletus. Used as a color modifier since the late nineteenth century after electric light made certain saturated colors feel attention-demanding. Electric blue, electric pink: the implication is hot luminance combined with optical impact. Sits at the bright-bucket extreme.
The Indian Ocean sea between the Malay Peninsula and the Andaman Islands — and the saturated blue-green of Andaman water at the Surin and Similan island groups. Andaman color refers to mid-depth Andaman Sea water: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical clarity of tropical Asian water.
