Imitative-onomatopoeic origin — present-participle of throb, with sound-and-action mimicry. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to pulsating and strobing in usage.
The pale, slightly translucent green-blue of foam on a breaking wave — light scattered through micron-scale air bubbles in salt water, with a touch of the sea's color showing through.
