Salmon
Salmon (#FF7E70) is a soft red with a warm character. It leans warm, pulling light toward red, orange, and yellow. Naturally inviting, it suits editorial and hospitality contexts. Its HSL profile (6°, 100%, 72%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary cyan. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel. The pink-orange of Pacific salmon flesh, harvested from the astaxanthin in the krill and shrimp they eat at sea. Farmed salmon on different diets turn gray; the color is sold separately as a pigment additive.
